In Millennial VS. Machine, Courtney talks about the importance of money management and stewardship. Below are a few tips to help you as you prepare to get started.

Let’s face it, we can ALL improve on the management of our money and we all likely would like to make more money! It all starts with understanding where you are with money and how you view it. I admit, my view of money has changed over the years and now my perspective is really that everything, including the money I have, belongs to God.

As you get started with the principals that are shared in Millennial VS. Machine, let’s take a look at how much you earn, how much you spend, how much you save and compare that with your goals. Are there areas where you can cut an expense? In cutting an expense, are you able to add that to your savings? Are there any moves that you can make with consolidation, refinance, etc.?

If you’re not sure where to start, we’re happy to point you in the right direction and refer you to reputable finance professionals that can help you!

As I mentioned, my perspective on money has changed over the years! To me, I am a steward of the money that God gives to me while He is the owner! The bible says that it’s more blessed to give than it is to receive. As you get started with the practical steps to get someone else to pay off your student loan debt as noted in Millennial VS. Machine, we encourage you to look at how you are stewarding the money you have. We encourage you to pray and consul with the Creator to see if there are certain things that He would like you to do with the money you have.

Stewardship doesn’t only involve giving to others but it also involves how you spend and save your money on a day to day basis.

From a young age, my parents STRESSED the importance of building and maintaining good credit! While “good” is somewhat subjective, the fact of the matter is that the principals taught in Millennial VS. Machine focus on leverage and the key to leverage is CREDIT!

One of the best pieces of advice that I got from my dad while in college was to get a credit card and use it for gas and groceries only and pay it off in full every month. I believe this allowed me to build credit to the point I had a 700+ credit score by the time that I graduated.
